Anna Hazare on ‘silent fast’ in support of protesting students; Said- violence and police action is very painful

Anna started his protest at 11 am and ended it at 1 pm

Ahilyanagar. Social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday conducted a two-hour ‘silent protest’ in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra in support of the students protesting in Delhi. Social activist colleague Datta Awari said, Anna started his protest at 11 am and ended it at 1 pm.

Hazare protested near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Ahilyanagar. After this he left for his village Ralegan Siddhi situated in the same district. Hazare had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday saying, the news of violence and police action is extremely painful.

He had said in the letter that the dissatisfaction of the protesters should be seen “not as a law and order problem, but as the pain and expectations of the society.”

Hazare had written that if Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is asked to resign, it will not bring down the government, but will make its functioning more accountable and effective. He urged the government to “listen patiently to the protesters, create an environment of trust and find solutions through positive dialogue.”
