There is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall as well as extremely heavy rainfall at many places in the state. The administration has instructed people living in waterlogged, low-lying areas and coastal areas to be alert. ‘Very heavy’ rains expected in these 4 states/regions Apart from Gujarat, IMD has warned of torrential rains in four other major states and coastal areas: Rajasthan: Torrential rains will continue in both eastern and western parts of the state. Konkan and Goa: Intermittent heavy to very heavy rains will continue over coastal Maharashtra and Goa. Central Maharashtra: Heavy rain is expected in the Ghats and hilly areas. Odisha: Many districts of the state may experience torrential rains along with thunder and lightning. Heavy rain alert in these 20 states including Delhi, Bihar On July 25, heavy rain will be recorded at different places in more than 20 states and union territories of the country: North and North-West India: There is an alert of heavy rain in the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi NCR along with hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Eastern India: There will be heavy rain in Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Northeast India: Heavy rain with movement of clouds is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. South India: Heavy rain has been warned in the districts of Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Threat of thunderstorm and lightning Along with rain, IMD has issued warning of thunderstorm (lightning) and strong winds in many states: Winds with speed of 30-50 KM/H: Gale winds with speed of 40 to 50 km per hour may occur over Andaman-Nicobar, Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Bihar. Warning of lightning: There is a danger of lightning in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana and North-Eastern states, hence it has been advised to avoid going to open places.
