“Those who are illiterate themselves…”, Naseeruddin Shah got angry at PM Modi, said – I do not take him seriously at all

Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has made a very sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government regarding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy and the massive protests by students across the country. In an interview given to senior journalist Karan Thapar for The Print, the famous actor openly said that he is not at all surprised by the government’s attitude towards this student movement.

‘It is very difficult to take PM Modi seriously’

During the interview, when Naseeruddin Shah was asked whether he considered Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘cheater’, he replied, ‘He is like a fraudster, but I find it very difficult to take anything he says seriously.’ The actor further said in strong words that being illiterate himself, he has no idea about the students of the country and the true importance of education. They often give great lessons regarding examinations, whereas a person who may never have given any examination himself is teaching today’s youth and students how the examinations are given.

Naseeruddin Shah further alleged that they show a clearly fake degree through someone like him and move forward on the basis of that. Till date he has never said anything clearly about his life. He has never given any true information about his married life, his parents, his siblings or his personal life, rather he has always told only lies.

‘They tell us to save petrol and roam around in a convoy of 10 SUVs’

This actor, who was recently seen in web series or films, sarcastically said that such a scene is often seen in Hindi films, where people get really emotional after seeing the fake tears of the actors. The terrible acting they do while crying is also just for their own selfish reasons. They never cry for the soldiers martyred in Pulwama or the innocent tourists killed in Pahalgam.

The actor said that he is not at all surprised that PM Modi did not say anything on this serious issue. He raised the question that on which important issue has he talked till date? He advises the general public of the country to save petrol and himself roams around proudly in a huge convoy of 10 SUVs each. They advise us not to travel abroad and the very next night they go on a tour to six different countries, where they return with a fake medal. People are told not to buy gold and save money, but all these rules do not apply to them, because they consider themselves divine.

Openly supported the student movement

Naseeruddin Shah has openly supported all the students of the country who are protesting on the streets across the country. He said that this protest of the students is not for any kind of political gain or selfishness, but it is directly related to their bright future and their fundamental right to education. The actor praised the spirit of the students and said that their anger is completely justified and the government should immediately and seriously consider all their demands.

Serious questions raised on the action of Delhi Police

Naseeruddin Shah also expressed his deep displeasure over the strictness and action taken by the police during the peaceful demonstration of students in Delhi on July 20. Raising direct questions on the role of the police administration, he said that in a democratic country, no force should be used against the students who are protesting peacefully. He stressed that instead of suppressing the voices of students, their problems should be listened to with love.

‘The government has become completely deaf, dumb and blind’

At the end of the interview, the actor declared the demand for resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as completely justified. He said that continuously ignoring the legitimate demands and anger of the students of the country clearly shows the extreme insensitivity of the present government. Making a strong attack on the central government, Naseeruddin Shah even said that this government has now become completely ‘deaf, dumb and blind’.
