Vietnam opened their 2026 ASEAN Cup campaign in dominant fashion with a 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste in Chonburi.
Do Hoang Hen and Nguyen Dinh Bac each scored twice in the first half, while Nguyen Xuan Son added another to give Vietnam a commanding 5-0 halftime lead.
Dinh Bac completed his hat-trick in the second half before Quang Hai’s cross forced a Timor-Leste own goal to seal the rout.
Vietnam could have scored more, with an offside goal ruled out late on, while goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang kept a clean sheet on his tournament debut.
The defending champions will host Singapore in their next Group A match on July 31.
