The Indian men’s team continues its impressive performance at the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 held in Muscat. The Indian team has maintained its winning streak by showing strong performance.
Sports News: The Indian men’s team continued its stellar performance and defeated arch-rival Pakistan 7-3 in the FIH Youth Hockey 5s Asian Championship 2026 being played in Muscat. With this victory, the Indian team registered its sixth consecutive win in the tournament and maintained its unbeaten campaign.
Earlier, India had also displayed aggressive play against host Oman and achieved a big victory of 10-1.
The confidence of the Indian team has increased significantly after registering two impressive wins in a single day. The team would now like to finish their campaign on a strong note by maintaining the winning streak on the last day of the tournament.
India’s one-sided victory against Oman
Before the match against Pakistan, the Indian men’s team defeated Oman 10-1. With this win, India registered its fifth consecutive win in the competition. In the match against Oman, Indian players played fast and aggressive hockey from the beginning. The host team’s defense appeared to be under constant pressure in the face of the team’s fast passing, excellent movement and goal-scoring ability.
India did not give much chance to the opposition team to recover during the entire match. Through continuous attacks, Indian players created many opportunities to score goals and in the end won the match with a huge margin of 10-1.
Defeated Pakistan in high-voltage match
After Oman, India faced Pakistan. The match between the two teams was exciting and high-voltage from the beginning. However, Indian players defeated Pakistan 7-3 on the basis of excellent strategy and aggressive play. India maintained pressure from the beginning of the match. Romit Pal scored the first goal for the team in the eighth minute. Soon after, Karan Gautam and captain Ketan Kushwaha scored in the 10th minute to increase India’s lead to 3-0.
India continued its aggressive attitude in the second half also. Prahlad Rajbhar scored a goal in the 12th minute to give India a 4-0 lead. Pakistan then tried to make a comeback and Mohammad Usman scored two goals in the 12th and 15th minutes. Captain Adil also raised Pakistan’s hopes by scoring a goal in the 17th minute.
However, instead of giving in to the pressure, the Indian team intensified its attacks. Shahrukh Ali scored in the 16th minute, while Rahul Yadav scored another goal for India in the 18th minute. Captain Ketan Kushwaha scored his second goal in the 20th minute to seal India’s 7-3 victory. Captain Ketan Kushwaha was adjudged Player of the Match for his excellent performance.
India’s claim strengthened by six consecutive wins
The win against Pakistan was India’s sixth consecutive success in the tournament. Earlier in its campaign, the Indian team had achieved two wins against Bangladesh, while also defeating Oman and Pakistan. Due to consecutive wins, the Indian men’s team is now considered among the major contenders for the title of the tournament. The team’s balanced performance and aggressive play makes it different from other teams.
The Indian men’s team will now take the field on the last day of the tournament on July 25. The team will look to continue its winning streak and finish the competition with another stellar performance.
Indian women’s team also registered a big victory
In the women’s category, the Indian team had to face defeat by 3-6 against China. However, the team made a spectacular comeback in its second match on the same day and defeated Uzbekistan 10-0. Earlier, the Indian women’s team had also performed well against Kazakhstan on July 23 and won the match 10-0. In this way, the women’s team has also demonstrated its strong ability in the competition.
The FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 assumes significance as it serves as the Asian qualification event for the first-ever FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup.
