Prahlad Joshi becomes the new education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation accepted

New Delhi, Read: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has been appointed Education Minister after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday. Joshi has been given the charge of the Education Ministry in addition to his Consumer Affairs Ministry. In a release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said that on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pradhan’s resignation has been accepted with immediate effect.

The release said that on the advice of the Prime Minister, the President has directed to hand over the additional charge of the Education Ministry to Cabinet Minister Joshi. Earlier, Pradhan resigned from the post after the movement led by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) across the country. The protesters had demanded Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET question paper leak controversy.

Government accepted all demands of CJP, movement ended on 36th day

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday announced ending its 36-day-long agitation over the NEET controversy after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the government accepting all the demands of the organization.

CWG said the two sides would meet again after four weeks to work on comprehensive reforms to the examination system. Announcing the end of their protests across the country with immediate effect, CJP spokesperson Saurav Ghosh said that apart from Pradhan’s resignation, the government has also agreed to pay “respectable” compensation to the families of candidates who allegedly committed suicide over the NEET controversy and withdraw FIRs lodged against the protesters in all Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states, including Delhi.

“CJP announces withdrawal of the agitation with the assurance and understanding that the agreed terms and conditions will be implemented within the stipulated timeline,” Das said while addressing a joint press conference with government interlocutors Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh. CJP had demanded resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question paper leak, compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the candidates who allegedly committed suicide after the NEET controversy and withdrawal of all FIRs registered against the protesters who participated in the organisation’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on March 20.

The CJP held a meeting with representatives of the central government at the Constitution Club here on Saturday afternoon after Pradhan announced his resignation from the post of Education Minister. This was the fourth official meeting between CJP and the government. In this, the central government was represented by Nadda and Singh, while apart from Das, the CJP delegation included Ashutosh Ranka.
