SP MP Akhilesh Yadav wrote in an X-post on Saturday, “The BJP is absolving criminals; the tradition of welcoming the guilty continues.” He also shared a clip from a news channel showing Happy Sharma and Sumit Giri, accused of attacking Pappu Yadav, being given a grand welcome. Happy Sharma and Sumit Giri are accused of attacking MP Pappu Yadav during a press conference. Police had arrested both of them in this case.
Following this incident, Pappu Yadav and his supporters beat up both accused, while one managed to escape. After being released on bail, both were greeted with garlands. A 7-kilometer-long roadshow was held in an open jeep from Bulandshahr to Naitla Hasanpur village. Both arrived home chanting “Jai Shri Ram.” The presence of BJP leaders during the event raised the political temperature.
