Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that India was enslaved due to internal divisions and conspiracies. The forces that weaken India in the name of region, caste and language are still creating divisions. Social media platforms have become a medium of conspiracy. Anti-national forces are misusing it and spreading rumours against India. An attempt is being made to mislead the society as part of a conspiracy. CM Yogi was addressing the centenary celebration program organized at the Kakori Martyrs Memorial on Sunday to mark the completion of 101 years of the Kakori train action.

The revolutionaries had challenged that the land of India would not tolerate slavery.

Paying tribute to the national heroes, the Chief Minister said that today marks the 101st anniversary of the Kakori train action. These great sons of Mother India shook the foundations of British rule and challenged that India would never tolerate slavery. These revolutionaries launched a long series of struggles, from the first War of Independence in 1857 to the “Quit India” movement of 1942. The British wanted to loot the hard-earned money of the Indian people and take it to Britain. However, at this very spot, on August 9, 1925, revolutionaries like Pt. Ram Prasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh, Ashfaqulla Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Rajendra Nath Lahiri seized the treasure, elevating the freedom struggle to new heights.

The Chief Minister paid tribute to the bravery of the revolutionaries.

The Chief Minister mentioned the revolutionaries Sachindra Nath Bakshi and Manmath Nath Gupta. He said they were born in Kashi and were sentenced to life imprisonment. The British confiscated their estates. Sachindra Nath Sanyal was also born in Kashi and breathed his last in Gorakhpur. Pt. Ramprasad Bismil, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Thakur Roshan Singh were hanged. Chandrashekhar Azad had said that Azad would always remain free. He fought the British until his last breath and was martyred on the soil of Prayagraj. The aim of these revolutionaries was to liberate Mother India, break the shackles of slavery, drive the British out of India, and liberate the country.
Those in power in independent India humiliated the revolutionaries.
The Chief Minister’s pain was also evident on the stage. He said that the British called the Kakori incident a robbery, but even in independent India, those who came to power insulted the revolutionaries of this incident in the name of the Kakori robbery. These people downplayed the Kakori train action and the Chauri Chaura incident. When the Chauri Chaura incident occurred in Gorakhpur in 1922, the Congress suspended the movement and turned its back on it. Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya fought the case of the revolutionaries in the Chauri Chaura incident.
The then Congress leaders committed the sin of punishing the revolutionaries.
CM Yogi said that many revolutionaries were sentenced to life imprisonment. The great revolutionaries Sachindra Nath Bakshi and Manmath Nath Gupta did not receive the respect they deserved after independence. The sin of their punishment was committed by the then Congress leaders who advocated for their actions. Those who kept the common people away from their heroes and revolutionaries did injustice to India’s young generation. Denying them the opportunity to feel proud of their heroes is tantamount to alienating the young generation from ideals, pride, and inspiration. Those who assumed power after independence committed the sin of insulting the revolutionaries. Beyond the Kakori martyrs, institutions were not named after Chandrashekhar Azad, Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Rani Lakshmibai, the brave women Uda Devi Pasi, Avanti Bai, and Jhalkari Bai, so that no memorials could be built in their names, and people would not even know their names. Conspiracies continued to be hatched for this purpose even after independence.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to PM Modi, saying that after assuming power in 2014, he honored the heroes of independence. Memorials for the Panch Tirthas associated with Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar, Ramprasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh, and Ashfaqulla Khan were expanded. The Kakori incident was named the Kakori Train Action, honoring the revolutionaries. Postage stamps are now being issued and institutions are being named after these revolutionaries. Otherwise, after independence, all schemes were named after a single family/clan.
Chief Minister calls for finding unsung heroes
The Chief Minister appealed to the public to seek out the revolutionaries. There are many unsung heroes in our villages, regions, districts, etc., who dedicated their all to freedom with the sentiment, “May your glory live forever, Mother, whether we live for a few days or not.” After independence, power-hungry people looked at their own glory. The revolutionaries were forgotten, and they were not given a place in the curriculum. Many conspiracies were hatched against the country and society, and a conspiracy to divide it was started again. The Chief Minister appealed to collect scattered material related to the revolutionaries and freedom fighters. Get involved in the repair and beautification of the memorials associated with them, and express respect to them by offering floral tributes.
Several events are held in a year to commemorate the revolutionaries.
The Chief Minister stated that the fight for national independence was paramount for the revolutionaries. A centenary celebration was held in Kakori to keep their memory alive. Numerous programs were held in memory of the revolutionaries throughout the year. The current generation of families associated with the Kakori train action and the families of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s security were also honored. The Chief Minister urged that the vision of a developed and self-reliant India will be realized only when everyone places the nation first. Make people aware of their motherland, language, and indigenous products. August 15th is Independence Day. During this time, the tricolor should be hoisted in every home and Vande Mataram should be sung in every institution.
