In view of Sawan, the team of Food Safety and Drug Administration Department conducted surprise inspection of meat and poultry shops on the Kavad Yatra route, issued a warning.

In order to comply with the order of the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Lucknow and to take action against the food establishments operating on the Kovad Yatra route for providing safe food/drinks to the devotees/devotees on the Kovad Yatra route in the month of Shravan, the team of Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, on 25.07.2026, retail sale of fruits, vegetables and sweets at shops and footpaths located at Birdhi Road, New Bazaar Square, Police Station-Robertsganj, Sonbhadra. The shops of the vendors were inspected.
Apart from this, under the instructions of the District Magistrate, all the food businessmen located in Shivdwara Temple Complex, Ghorawal, all the shopkeepers and the general public present there were made aware and the Food Safety Connect App was pasted. Instructions were given to display the rate list in the establishment and to keep the food items covered and clean. In order to provide safe food/drinks to the devotees/devotees on the Kavad Yatra route, instructions were given to close the food establishments, meat, poultry and egg shops operating on the Kavad Yatra route.

The Food Safety and Drug Administration issued a warning saying that meat, egg and chicken shops should be kept closed during the month of Shravan, otherwise necessary action will be taken against them under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. He further clarified that the process of monitoring and inspection will continue.
