IMD issues red alert in 12 states including UP-Bihar, warning of thunderstorm and lightning with heavy rain

New Delhi: Monsoon has once again started showing its ferocious form. The risk of heavy rain has increased in 12 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for many states, warning of strong winds and thunderstorms. During this time, the wind speed can reach 60 to 70 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of damage to trees and weak structures. There is also a danger of lightning in many parts of Eastern India.

At the same time, Gujarat and Assam are already facing the brunt of heavy rains and floods. In many areas, life has been affected due to rain and property has been damaged. The Meteorological Department has predicted further heavy rains in these states.

Weather alert in 12 states including UP-Bihar

According to IMD, there is a possibility of bad weather in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. In many districts of these states, winds can blow at a speed of 65 to 70 kilometers per hour along with heavy rains. Even in the last 24 hours, good rainfall has been recorded in many states. Due to this, rainfall figures have increased rapidly in some areas. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid going to open areas during bad weather and to stay away from trees and weak structures during strong winds.

Rain increased due to Bay of Bengal system

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and the influence of western disturbance, the rainy season has intensified in many parts of the country. Heavy rain has been recorded at many places in Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Odisha. According to IMD’s forecast, the weather pattern may remain like this in many states till July 31.

It is also raining heavily in the hilly states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Incidents of landslides have been reported due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. Due to this, many roads are still closed and people are facing problems in transportation.

In which states there is red, orange and yellow alert?

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Odisha and Maharashtra on July 26. In view of the possibility of very heavy rains in these states, people have been advised to take special precautions. Orange alert has been issued in Gujarat, Goa and Chhattisgarh. Yellow alert has been issued for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain in many states between July 27 and 30. In such a situation, people have been advised to keep an eye on weather information for the next few days.

Alert of heavy rain in Gujarat on Sunday also

Due to continuous rains in Gujarat for the last several days, many districts are facing flood situation. There is news of huge damage due to rain in Surat, Banaskantha, Bharuch and Amreli. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert regarding heavy rain in Kutch, Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha, Anand, Amreli and Surat on Sunday. There is a possibility of the water level of rivers and drains increasing due to continuous rain.
