Six-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Into Water-Filled Pit in Greater Noida
New Delhi, July 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A six-year-old boy died after falling into a 15-foot-deep water-filled pit at Kala Dham Society in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park area, prompting a police investigation into the incident.
The victim, identified as Avyaan Surya, was the son of Siwan Yadav, Vice Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
According to police and local residents, the pit had been dug for boring work and had filled with rainwater following recent showers. Avyaan was reportedly playing with other children near the excavation site when he accidentally fell into the open pit.
Residents rushed to rescue the child and took him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who alleged that the excavation site had been left without proper barricading or warning signs, posing a serious risk to the public. They accused the Greater Noida Authority of negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible, along with stronger safety measures at construction and infrastructure sites.
Residents also recalled a similar incident earlier this year in which a 27-year-old software engineer drowned after his car plunged into a waterlogged pit near a construction site in Noida, saying repeated accidents underlined the need for stricter enforcement of safety norms.
Police said an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the child’s death.
