“I feel ashamed…” Manoj Muntashir’s big statement regarding ‘Adipurush’
Tezzbuzz Desk – Three years have passed since the release of Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan starrer film ‘Adipurush’, but this film is still counted among the most controversial films of Indian cinema. There was a huge controversy at that time regarding the dialogues and VFX of the film. Now the film’s dialogue writer and lyricist Manoj Muntashir has openly admitted for the first time that the experience related to this film proved to be the biggest mistake of his career.
In a recent interview, Manoj Muntashir said that initially he did not take the criticism regarding the film seriously. However, after some time he realized how big the matter was. He admitted that defending the film was also a big mistake of his.
Manoj Muntashir said, “Adipurush was the biggest mistake of my life and defending that film was an even bigger mistake. I am deeply ashamed of whatever happened. I apologize to the entire country.”
He also mentioned the controversial dialogues of the film. Muntashir said that when he recalls those dialogues today, he himself feels ashamed. He admitted that now he does not understand how he had written such dialogues.
‘Adipurush’, released in the year 2023, was directed by Om Raut. In the film, Prabhas was seen in the role of Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon in the role of Mata Sita and Saif Ali Khan in the role of Ravana. After its release, the film remained in controversies regarding its dialogues, VFX and many creative decisions. The film was criticized by everyone from social media to political and religious organizations.
The impact of huge controversies was also seen on the box office performance of the film. Made with a budget of around Rs 500 crore, the film could only do a worldwide business of around Rs 393 crore and could not even recover its cost. For this reason it is included among the biggest unsuccessful films of Hindi cinema.
In a way, this public statement of Manoj Muntashir after three years is being considered as his introspection on that controversy. He clearly admitted that the lesson learned from ‘Adipurush’ is the biggest lesson of his life and he would not like to repeat such a mistake in future.
