Kiev, 26 July 2026: A commercial ship named ‘MV AGN Ragnar’ was attacked at the port of Odessa in Ukraine. There were four Indian citizens on board this ship. Regarding this attack, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine said on Sunday that they are closely monitoring the situation after this incident at Odessa port.
The Indian Embassy has informed on ‘X’ that two of the four Indian crew members have been confirmed safe. Information regarding the remaining two members is awaited.
The embassy has said that search and rescue operations are underway. We are in constant touch with the Ukrainian authorities. After the attack, the embassy has also announced a helpline for Indians living in Ukraine.

Odessa is the largest port of Ukraine situated on the Black Sea. Since Russia’s attack in February 2022, the city has been the target of continuous missile and drone attacks. Due to this, maritime trade has also been destroyed.
The Government of India has already advised its citizens not to travel to Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict. The Embassy has said that all possible help is being provided to the Indians living there.
