Owaisi gave an open offer to Akhilesh, said – ‘AIMIM does not want BJP to form government again in UP, join hands and don’t cry later.

Moradabad. Before the UP Assembly Elections 2027, political rhetoric has started heating up. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has made a big offer of alliance to Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on an open platform during a public meeting in Moradabad district of western UP.

If Owaisi contests elections, you will suffer losses, so I am ready to fight with you.

Owaisi made it clear that his party is ready to join hands with the Samajwadi Party to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from coming to power in UP. In the Moradabad rally, Owaisi spoke openly on vote division and dispersion of Muslim votes. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief said that we do not want BJP to form the government again in Uttar Pradesh. He said that I am ready to join hands and I am ready to form an alliance. Today is the time, talk, don’t cry later after the elections are over. You say that you suffer loss if Owaisi contests the elections, then I am ready to fight with you.

Now we do not want to sit on the carpet, we want equality: Owaisi

Emphasizing on Muslim leadership and participation, Owaisi said that our fight is not against any religion, but for rights and justice. Now we do not want to sit on the carpet, we want equality. If Akhilesh Yadav sits on the chair, then Owaisi will also sit cross-legged in front of that chair and talk about rights.

Even during Bihar Assembly elections, Owaisi had given a similar offer to Lalu Prasad Yadav. During his Seemanchal Nyay Yatra, the AIMIM chief said about the alliance with RJD, that if our alliance is not formed, Majlis will contest elections on all the assembly seats. If we contest elections, don’t cry after the results come.

However, RJD did not join hands with AIMIM then. Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM had contested this election alone and won 5 seats in Seemanchal region.

Owaisi’s special focus on Western UP

The AIMIM chief has been holding massive rallies in Western Uttar Pradesh and Rohilkhand region (Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bahraich etc.) for some time. Muslim and Dalit population play a very decisive role in these areas. Owaisi says that he wants to reject the opposition’s allegation that his party only works to cut votes (B-Team), that is why he is placing the condition of alliance directly before SP.

BJP’s taunt “Appeasement race and Bhaijaan collaboration”

Immediately after this statement of Owaisi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala termed it as mere vote bank and appeasement politics.

Shahzad Poonawala said that there used to be a competition between Akhilesh Yadav and Owaisi as to ‘who will become Bada Bhaijaan’. Now he is leaving this competition and going for ‘Bhaijaan Collaboration’. That is why Owaisi is sending friend request to Akhilesh ji. These two are two sides of the same coin.

In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether SP accepts this ‘friend request’ of Owaisi or enters the field alone.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party is working on the formula of PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) social engineering. Forging an alliance with Owaisi may stop the fragmentation of Muslim votes, but BJP may try to polarize the majority votes by capitalizing on it as ‘appeasement’. The UP Assembly elections are being considered as the biggest ‘semi-final’ of the country’s politics before the 2029 general elections. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether Samajwadi Party accepts this ‘friend request’ of Owaisi or maintains the decision to contest alone.
