Tata Motors is currently riding high on the success of the newly launched Sierra.ev, Harrier.ev, Tiago.ev, and other models. Now, to make sure that it remains on top, the company is gearing up for the launch of four new models in India. So, without any delay, here are the details of the upcoming Tata Motors cars.
The Tata Tigor has not received any major design update in a long time. As a result, the company is gearing up for the launch of the facelift of this sedan. It is expected to make its debut in the coming months. So far, the company has already filed the design patent for the updated sedan. The patent images have revealed that the new Tigor will adopt styling similar to the recently launched Tiago facelift.
It will feature sleeker headlights, a redesigned closed-off grille with the Tata logo, and a gloss-black connecting strip. Additionally, it will also boast a completely redesigned front bumper with a larger air dam and provision for a front camera. The bonnet has also been redesigned with a flatter and more chiselled appearance.
On the side, the overall silhouette will remain unchanged. However, the sedan will get a fresh set of 8-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the Tigor facelift will continue with its sporty sloping roofline. However, it will now get redesigned LED taillamps, a connected black trim element on the boot lid, a new bumper, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera.
Moving inside, the cabin is expected to borrow heavily from the Tiago facelift. It is expected to include a new dual-tone layered dashboard, a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The sedan will also get dual wireless smartphone chargers, rear USB Type-C ports, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, keyless entry, and as many as 37 connected car features.
Tata could also offer a 360-degree camera for the first time on the Tigor. Mechanically, it is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CNG option. They will come paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
In addition to the petrol-powered Tigor, Tata Motors is also working on the facelifted Tigor.ev. It is expected to launch at the same time as the Tigor ICE. This updated electric sedan will feature a number of upgrades over the outgoing model.
Its styling updates will include a redesigned front fascia, slimmer LED DRLs, and revised bumpers. On the inside, the Tigor.ev facelift is expected to receive a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and wireless smartphone charging.
Most likely, the updated Tigor.ev will be powered by the same 26 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 315 km on a single full charge. As for the pricing, it is expected to start from around Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Motors is also preparing to launch its first-ever three-row electric SUV, the Safari.ev. It will be launched around the festive season this year. Recent spy shots have suggested that the company could equip the SUV with a triple-screen dashboard, similar to the Sierra.ev. This will help the Safari.ev compete more effectively against the Mahindra XEV 9S, which already offers a triple-screen layout.
On the outside, the Safari.ev is expected to remain largely similar to the diesel-powered Safari. However, it will get a few EV-specific styling elements. Meanwhile, on the inside, it is expected to share much of its equipment with the Harrier.ev. The SUV is expected to use the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options along with Tata’s dual-motor QWD all-wheel-drive system producing up to 500 Nm of torque. There are reports that it could also get a bigger 80 kWh battery pack as well.
Its feature highlights are expected to include a 14.5-inch Samsung OLED touchscreen, Level 2+ ADAS, and a self-park function. It is also expected to get summon mode, terrain modes, multi-link rear independent suspension, digital IRVM, a 540-degree camera, V2L, V2V functionality, and Tata’s Arcade.ev connected technology suite.
The fourth major launch from Tata Motors will be the Avinya X. It will become the first production model under the Avinya brand. It is expected to make its debut by the end of this year or by early 2027. This premium electric SUV will sit above the Harrier.ev and Safari.ev in Tata’s electric lineup.
Tata Motors will use the same Chery-JLR E0X architecture. Tata has also confirmed that the Avinya range will be based on the new Freelander EV platform. However, it will develop its own electronics, software, and vehicle systems specifically for Indian conditions. Internationally, the E0X platform supports up to a 100 kWh battery pack, rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
It also supports an advanced 800V electrical architecture capable of ultra-fast charging. It also supports a claimed driving range of up to 760 km on the CLTC cycle. The production-spec Avinya X is expected to offer premium features such as Level 2 ADAS, over-the-air software updates, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), and several advanced connected technologies.
