DTC’s Pink Saheli smart card becomes all-in-one card, new facility of digital payment with Safar
The Pink Saheli Smart Card, which provides free travel facility for women in Delhi’s DTC buses, will no longer be limited to bus travel only. This card can also be used as a debit card. This means that women card holders will also be able to make purchases at malls, shops and other business establishments. According to the Delhi government, the Pink Saheli smart card has been developed as a multi-utility card to provide women access to public transport as well as digital payment facilities. To avail this facility, interested women will have to apply online by visiting the website of the bank authorized by DTC. This smart card will be made available to eligible women after the completion of the application process.
Two types of Pink Saheli smart cards are being issued.
Currently two types of National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) are being issued by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The first card is being made under the Zero-KYC process. To get this card made, women only need Aadhar card. Pink Saheli Smart Card is issued after verification of the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. This card can be used mainly for free travel in DTC buses.
Whereas, the second card is issued after the completion of the full-KYC process. For this, the detailed application process prescribed by the bank and verification of required documents has to be done. Issued after full-KYC, this card works like a debit card, allowing women to travel free in DTC buses and also make digital payments and purchases at malls, shops and other business establishments.
How to make Pink Saheli Smart Card with Debit Card
According to a DTC official, to get a full-KYC Pink Saheli Smart Card, which can be used like a debit card, women will have to apply on the online portal of a DTC authorized bank. During the application, Aadhar card with Delhi address, passport size photograph and other necessary personal information will have to be given. If necessary, the bank can also ask for PAN card. After this, the video KYC process will be completed by the bank. After verification of all the documents and information, the card will be prepared and sent to the applicant’s address through post.

With full-KYC Pink Saheli Smart Card, women will be able to avail free travel in DTC and cluster buses. At the same time, if this card is to be used for shopping in Delhi Metro, Namo Bharat trains or at malls, shops and other business establishments, then first the required amount will have to be recharged in it. After recharge, this card can be used as National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for both digital payments and public transport.
Will have to wait for orange card
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has prescribed three color National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) for different categories of passengers. In these, pink card will be issued for women, blue card for general passengers and orange card for senior citizens, disabled people and other concessional category passengers. However, according to DTC, the orange card has not been introduced at present. The department says that the process of issuing cards of this category has not started yet. In such a situation, senior citizens, disabled people and other eligible beneficiaries will have to wait for some time for this.
Pink Saheli Smart Card will be mandatory from 1st August
From August 1, it will be mandatory for women in Delhi to show Pink Saheli smart card to avail free travel in DTC and cluster buses. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has started a special campaign in this regard and has appealed to the women passengers to get their Pink Saheli Smart Card made as soon as possible. According to the order issued by DTC, from August 01, pink tickets will be issued only to those women passengers who have a valid Pink Saheli smart card. Women will have to tap their card while traveling in the bus. Only after this they will get the facility of free bus travel under the scheme.
