Sonia Gandhi Voter List Case: Decision reserved on the petition demanding registration of FIR against Sonia Gandhi, the matter is related to name and citizenship in the voter list.

New Delhi. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its decision on the revision petition demanding registration of FIR against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. The court will give its decision on this on August 13. The court has asked both the parties that if they have to file any written reply, then they should submit it by August 1. In the complaint of a person named Vikas Tripathi, it has been alleged that Sonia Gandhi had registered her name in the voter list through fake documents three years before taking Indian citizenship in 1983.

Earlier, the petition against Sonia Gandhi was rejected by the Magistrate Court. After this, the petitioner has filed a petition in the Sessions Court challenging the order of the Magistrate Court. Senior advocates RS Cheema and Tarannum Cheema appeared in the court on behalf of Sonia Gandhi. He termed the documents presented by the petitioner as fake. Whereas senior advocate Ajay Burman and advocate Neeraj, on behalf of petitioner Vikas Tripathi, argued that the respondents are unable to explain how Sonia Gandhi’s name was included in the voter list before becoming an Indian citizen.

Earlier, the 1980 Election Commission report was presented in the court on behalf of Vikas Tripathi. On this the court had sought reply from Sonia Gandhi’s lawyer. A reply to that application was filed by Sonia Gandhi’s lawyer on July 4. On behalf of the petitioner, it was also claimed that two years after her name was registered in the voter list, i.e. in 1982, the Election Commission had again removed Sonia Gandhi’s name from the voter list. Probably the Election Commission might have come to know that fake documents were submitted to get names added to the voter list.
