Outcry at London’s Gatwick Airport! Water supply stopped due to power failure, locks hanging on toilets

London Gatwick Airport Water Crisis: There was chaos at Gatwick Airport, one of the busiest airports in the British capital London, on Sunday when the water supply suddenly came to a complete halt. The water crisis became so severe that the airport administration had to close toilets, restaurants and bars in both the terminals.

Due to non-availability of water for hours, passengers faced a lot of problems and many people were seen forced to sit on the floor.

Water treatment stopped due to power failure

The main reason for this crisis in the plant is said to be a technical fault. According to water supply company SES Water, power was lost at their Bow Beach Water Treatment Works. The power outage resulted in a significant drop in water pressure, which not only directly affected Gatwick Airport but also disrupted water supply in some residential areas in Kent and Sussex counties.

Airport officials said that due to lack of water, all toilets and food shops located in both the terminals had to be temporarily closed in view of hygiene and safety. Gatwick administration has issued a post on social media and apologized to passengers for this inconvenience. The administration says that they are trying to restore the supply as soon as possible in collaboration with the local water company.

passengers erupted in anger

The passengers present at the airport who were forced to sit on the floor have expressed their displeasure over the claims of the administration. Former MP Michael Dugger strongly criticized the situation on social media, saying that due to the closure of restaurants, people are left with no space to sit, due to which the elderly and children are forced to sit on the floor. He appealed to the administration to open the doors of closed bars and restaurants to provide seating areas.

At the same time, a passenger named Paul said that closure of the toilet has become the biggest problem for those who have to catch a flight. Passengers also alleged that there was no concrete arrangement made by the airport administration to distribute bottled water, while the administration claimed that they had arranged for water bottles for the passengers and staff.

The administration apologized

According to a Gatwick Airport spokesperson, a special team of staff are present at the terminals to assist passengers. Some restaurant partners have opened their premises to provide additional seating space to passengers. The administration has clarified that until the water treatment plant is completely repaired, it is difficult for the supply to become normal, although efforts are on to control the situation through alternative arrangements.
