Nitin Gadkari angry with fake post on E20 controversy, approached Bombay High Court in defamation case.

Knews Desk- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has moved the Bombay High Court against alleged fake posts and deepfake videos being circulated on social media regarding E20 ethanol blended petrol. Gadkari has alleged that misleading material is being spread on social media with the aim of tarnishing the image of him and his family.

According to the report, Gadkari had sought permission to file a civil suit for defamation against Meta, X (formerly Twitter), Google and other platforms, which has been approved by the Bombay High Court.

The petition said that in some social media posts it is being claimed that Gadkari and his family have benefited financially from the E20 ethanol policy. Whereas the reality is that the ethanol blending policy is governed by the Petroleum Ministry and he has no personal connection with it.

Gadkari says that such baseless allegations have caused serious damage to his reputation and an attempt has been made to tarnish his public image.

Allegation of deepfake video prepared with AI

The petition also alleges that without his permission, deepfake audio-videos were created and circulated on social media, imitating his voice and face with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Gadkari has described them as completely false, misleading and malicious.

Under the E20 policy, 20 percent ethanol is mixed in petrol, which aims to reduce dependence on crude oil imports and reduce pollution caused by vehicles. However, vehicle owners have raised questions about its impact on some vehicle models manufactured before 2023.

Have given challenge before also

Nitin Gadkari, who has been a constant supporter of ethanol blended fuel, had recently challenged the critics and said that if any vehicle has a technical fault due to E20 petrol, then even a single proof of the same should be brought forward. According to him, till now no proven case of damage to any vehicle due to E20 petrol has been reported.
