Guru Purnima 2026: Guru has been given the highest position in Hindu religion. Every year the full moon day of Ashadh month is celebrated with great devotion as Guru Purnima or Vyas Purnima. This year 2026, there was some confusion regarding Guru Purnima whether it will happen on 28th July or 29th July. According to the Panchang, Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 29 July 2026.
Guru Purnima date
According to the Panchang, Ashadh Purnima Tithi will start from 06:18 PM on 28th July 2026 and will continue till 08:05 PM on 29th July 2026. According to Sanatan tradition, festivals are organized on the basis of Udayatithi (sunrise day). Therefore, the Purnima Tithi will be present at the time of morning sunrise on 29th July, due to which Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 29th July.
Auspicious time and Rahukaal
Auspicious time of puja on Guru Purnima day: It will be from 05:41 to 09:05 in the morning. Worshiping Guru Ji at this time is considered very auspicious.
Rahukaal: Rahukaal will remain from 12:27 pm to 02:08 pm on 29th July. According to the scriptures, any auspicious work or worship should be avoided at this time.

Astrological coincidence on Guru Purnima: On this day, a special combination of Jupiter and Moon is being formed, which is considered beneficial for knowledge and spiritual progress. On this occasion, giving Guru Dakshina and chanting Guru Mantra has special significance.

Take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes. Place a seat at the worship place of the house and keep a picture or idol of Guru Ved Vyas ji.
Offer roli, sandalwood, flowers, incense sticks, lamps, fruits and sweets in the puja. Chant the Guru Mantra ‘Om Gurve Namah’ and recite Guru Geeta or Guru Stotra. Finally, offer Dakshina to Guru Ji and pray for his blessings.
