New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said, along with Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka, that the government had promised to withdraw lathicharge and cases against students. However, since those lawsuits CJP And work has to be done to protect the students. So, I will contribute Rs 1 crore to CJP for that protection. Kapil Sibal said that this was a natural movement. A large number of students participated in this and it is a movement to change the system of the country. So, I will help them. I did not join this movement with them. However, I will give him financial assistance of Rs 1 crore and I urge other lawyers to contribute to his defence.

No role in utilization of funds

He said that the government creates Hindu-Muslim conflict in the country and gives Hindu-Muslim color to any issue. We cannot allow this to happen. That is why I am helping them. In other legal matters, I will help them wherever they need me. I will have no role in how SAJP uses this fund. I will only contribute. I have announced this. They will decide themselves how to use the remaining funds. The CJP has negotiated with the government to withdraw the cases against the students. If the cases are withdrawn, they will get relief. However, if the cases are not withdrawn, they will have to fight to quash the FIR.

Order not issued yet

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janata Party chief spokesperson Sourav Das said the government had promised to withdraw the cases, but it has not yet issued any order in this regard. They have been given till Tuesday. We are waiting for that order. He expressed concern that once the agitation ends, the government may continue to target individuals and persecute them as before. They are constantly trying to prevent this from happening.

Calling lawyers across the country

He said, “In this background, we are getting information about FIRs being filed in states where protests have taken place across the country to support our movement. We appeal to lawyers across the country to come forward and help us. Anyone who wants to help, should join us. We will also create a database for legal aid. Lawyers who want to join us can submit their information by visiting the website.”

Start a website to collect evidence

On behalf of Cockroach Janata Party, we have launched a portal named cockroachjantaparty.org/sakshi to gather evidence against police and paramilitary personnel involved in violence, said Saurabh Das. Those who have video or photo footage of police and paramilitary personnel should upload it on this website. Based on these evidences, we will file an FIR against those police and paramilitary personnel. We will even go to court against them and fight to hold them accountable.”

If the order is not issued, we will protest again

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janata Party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said, “During our discussions with the government, we agreed that the government will issue an order by Tuesday to withdraw the cases against all the students. But if the government does not issue an order by tomorrow and withdraw the cases, then the Cockroach Janata Party will again take the agitation route. We will stage another agitation.”
