Attention New immediate rule will be implemented from August 1, read this important news before going to the counter

Keeping in mind the convenience and safety of passengers, Indian Railways has made many major and important changes in the rules of ticket booking. Big changes are being seen from the timing of reservation to the methods of ticket cancellation and booking. In this series, West Central Railway (WBC) has also announced a major change in the booking process of Tatkal tickets, which will directly affect the passengers buying tickets from the counter. A new and advanced token rule for booking Tatkal tickets is going to be implemented across the country from August 1, 2026, which is expected to provide great relief to passengers from long queues.

New token rule of Tatkal ticket will be applicable from August 1

The main rule of this new token system to be implemented by West Central Railway from August 1 will be fully applicable on counter booking. The main objective of this new system is to make the booking process very easy, to control the huge crowd at the booking counters and to further increase the convenience of railway passengers. Under this new rule starting from August 1, tokens for Tatkal tickets will now be given much earlier, so that passengers can get a complete idea of their exact turn just before the booking starts. With this smart token system, passengers will no longer have to make repeated trips to the reservation counter, rather they will be able to easily get their booking done by reaching the counter at the right time as per their fixed token number.

Know from what time you will get the new Tatkal token

According to the new schedule of Railways, from August 1, tokens for AC Tatkal tickets will be issued only from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. On the other hand, tokens for sleeper class or non-AC Tatkal tickets will be available between 9:00 am to 9:30 am. If we compare this with the present time, till now tokens for AC coaches were available from 9:00 am to 9:25 am and tokens for non-AC coaches were available from 9:30 am to 9:55 am, in which now a big change has been made. Apart from this, a certain number of tokens has also been fixed for each reservation window of the ticket counter. For example, now only 10 tokens will be issued for booking Tatkal tickets for AC coach and 15 tokens for sleeper coach at each ticket counter.

Who will get the first chance in the token system?

To make this new token system transparent, it has been divided into two different categories. In Category ‘A’, first priority will be given to those people who come to the counter to book a token for themselves or for any member of their family. It will be mandatory for people of this category to carry any valid ID proof of themselves and their family to get the token. After this, priority will be given to other passengers in Category ‘B’, who will get the opportunity only after tickets are given to Category ‘A’ passengers. People in this second category will also have to carry identity card or any other valid certificate with them.

Only the one in whose name the token is will get the Tatkal ticket.

According to these new and strict rules of Railways, once received from the counter, that token cannot be transferred in the name of any other person. The final booking of Tatkal ticket will also be done in the name of the person in whose name the token will be issued. Railways believes that this strict rule will completely control brokers and illegal agents. With the introduction of this new token system, the entire Tatkal ticket booking process will become very transparent, easy and convenient for common and needy passengers.
