NEET paper leak protest: 2873 suspected criminals identified in CJP’s dharna, 989 have records of serious cases
After the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar against the NEET paper leak, Delhi Police has intensified the investigation into the criminal records of the people involved in the protest. According to the police, there was a huge uproar between the protesters and the police during the Parliament march. The protesters accused the police of using lathicharge and tear gas, while the police claimed that several policemen were injured in the violence by the protesters.
Claim to identify 2873 people from FRS data
According to FRS (Facial Recognition System) data of Delhi Police, 2873 people captured on cameras during the protest have been identified as persons who allegedly have prior criminal records. According to the police, these people include people who have been accused in cases related to murder, attempt to murder, robbery, robbery, rape, weapons and drugs.
According to the police, their presence was revealed in Jaffrabad, Chandbagh and Seelampur of North-East Delhi, Jamia, Shaheen Bagh and Okhla of South-East Delhi and surrounding areas of Central Delhi.
Old record of serious crimes against 989 people
According to the police claim, out of 2873 people identified, 989 have old records related to serious crimes. These include 101 murder, 62 attempt to murder, 284 dacoity or robbery, 61 rape, 6 POCSO, 25 molestation of women, 229 Arms Act, 135 snatching, 19 kidnapping and 67 NDPS related cases.
Multiple cases against multiple people
According to the police, of the 101 people identified in the murder cases, 42 have two or more criminal cases against them, while 12 have 10 or more cases registered against them. At the same time, out of 284 accused of dacoity or robbery, 155 have been claimed to have two or more cases against them and 31 have claimed to have 10 or more cases against them. Police say that this investigation, being done on the basis of FRS data, is part of the investigation into the criminal records of the people present during the demonstration.
