The Egyptians believed that a person has to go through a difficult path after death, only then his soul gets a place in heaven. A few years ago, archaeologists in Egypt discovered tombs thousands of years old. A book was found in these tombs, in which mantras were written for the soul of the person. The Egyptians called this book ‘Coming Forth by Day’, while in 1842 the German historian Carl Richard Lepsius named this book ‘The Book of the Dead’.
The Book of the Dead text was discovered by Egyptian archaeologists, in which about 200 mantras, prayers and many miraculous verses were written that lead to heaven. 200 magical mantras were written
The Book of the Dead is a text dating back to around 2000 BC, containing spells written by several great priests. Ancient Egyptian religion believed that after death a person had to face demons, crocodiles and snakes. For this reason, the Book of the Dead was kept with the dead body, in which about 200 mantras were written to protect the soul of the dead person. It contained different mantras to protect the dead person. Mantras related to this were also written in it so that the soul of a person should not be bitten by any creature in the next world. Apart from this, according to Egyptian folk beliefs, some mantras were also written in this book, by reciting which the dead person could achieve his desired thing.
Thousands of years ago this book was kept only in the tombs of kings. That means only rich people got the right to this. During that time, the Book of the Dead was written on birch bark and kept near the dead bodies. Gradually, after changing times, this book started being kept in the graves of common people too, only these books did not contain any kind of pictures.

It seemed like a court of spirits
According to ancient Egyptian folk beliefs, after death, a person not only had to go through a difficult path to heaven, but the soul was also punished for the mistakes of life. According to this folk belief, the person’s soul was presented to the court of the afterlife, where the judging gods were Anubis and Horus, who kept an account of the person’s deeds. A person’s heart was placed on one scale and an account of his sins was kept on the other. If the scale of sins was heavy, then demons would punish the person’s soul.
However, according to historians, the ‘Book of the Dead’ cannot actually be considered a magical book that takes the soul to heaven. It was an important religious text related to ancient Egyptian religious beliefs, funeral traditions, and the journey after death, which the people of that time considered a guide to the soul.
