Dharna at a different place, similar efforts, why is BJP less worried than CJP and Congress more worried?

The Congress Party, which once lost its space to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), this time seems to be avoiding the cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Instead of vocally raising its voice on students’ issues, the Congress party does not seem to be standing with CJP. When all the opposition leaders were going to Jantar Mantar, Rahul Gandhi further confirmed this by sitting on a dharna near the Prime Minister’s residence. Now Congress has promised to provide legal help to the protesting students, just like CJP has done. Apart from Aam Aadmi Party leaders, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife had also raised questions regarding the isolated stand of Congress.

Now continuous efforts are being made by the Congress which show that it does not want to allow CJP to become the main opposition under any circumstances. Congress has also activated its Youth Wing and Students Wing i.e. NSUI for this. Its effort is to connect the anger of the students with itself so that like in the year 2012-13, this anger does not go to any third party again and only Congress gets the benefit from it.

Congress is making the same efforts as CJP

On Monday, CJP announced that a website would be launched through which the protesting students would be able to seek legal help. Rajya Sabha MP and famous lawyer Kapil Sibal has also announced to donate Rs 1 crore for this. CJP says that if any action is taken against the protesters then they can take legal help from lawyers through this website. Lawyers can also join this website.

On the same day, leaders of the Youth Wing of Congress held a press conference. Gurmehar Kaur, Richa Singh and NSUI President Vinod Jakhar announced at a press conference that the Congress party will launch a helpline for students against whom cases have been registered because they participated in the protests. Besides, it has also been announced to help the people who were victims of police action.

Rahul Gandhi did not go to Jantar Mantar

When demonstrations took place at Jantar Mantar, leaders of all opposition parties reached there. Some leaders of Congress were also sent but Rahul Gandhi did not go. When the discussion on Jantar Mantar and CJP intensified after the departure of all the leaders including Samajwadi Party’s Dimple Yadav, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, NCP (Sharad Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, suddenly Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna near the Prime Minister’s residence. Within a few hours he came into limelight, the police took him into custody but he did not take the name of CJP anywhere.

Rahul Gandhi’s team, which has been raising the issue of paper leak for a long time, is now trying to show that Rahul has been active on such issues even before CJP. Old videos of Rahul Gandhi have also been shared by Congress in which he was demanding resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan on the issue of education. He has also started a program named ‘Chhatraon Ki Goonj’ in which he says that his platform is not political. He has been mentioning the youth a lot in these programs but never mentioned CJP. When Rahul Gandhi addressed the media on 25th July, many students and students who were protesting at Jantar Mantar were also with him. Rahul Gandhi raised many issues but did not take the name of CJP.

Congress does not want to allow a party like AAP to be formed?

Aam Aadmi Party is being considered to be the reason for Congress taking such a rash step. In fact, AAP has replaced Congress in Delhi and Punjab and in both these places Congress is in a very weak position. Congress had made a mistake in 2013 when it supported Arvind Kejriwal to form the government. After this, Arvind Kejriwal won a bumper victory in 2015 and 2020 and not a single Congress MLA could win in Delhi in three consecutive elections.

Similarly, AAP ousted Congress from power in Punjab and even now Congress is struggling there. Even in Gujarat and Goa, AAP has made a dent in the vote bank of Congress. This is the reason why now Congress does not want to give place to any third faction. Congress is continuously raising those issues through which CJP has come into limelight. In fact, Congress fears that if CJP decides to enter politics after the movement and a large section goes with him, then there will be a division in the opposition votes and Congress will suffer the loss.
