Alert for Bank of Baroda customers: Concern increased after data leak claim, do these important things immediately

Recently, some cyber security reports have claimed that about 1 terabyte (1000GB) of data related to the bank has reached the dark web. Although the bank has not yet confirmed this claim, the matter has definitely increased the concern of customers.
Cyber experts say that in such cases, it is better to take necessary security steps in advance rather than waiting for confirmation.
What information is claimed to be in the leak?
According to reports, the hacker group has claimed that the leaked data includes many important information related to millions of customers. These claim to contain customer application forms, photographs, identity documents, loan records and some information related to net banking.
Apart from this, internal documents of the bank, audit reports, records related to loan investigation and other confidential files have also been mentioned in some reports. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
The name of which hacker group was revealed?
The name of a hacker group named TripleX has emerged in the reports. It is being told that this group has already claimed to have carried out cyber attacks on many institutions. Therefore, this claim is being viewed seriously, although the real situation will be clear only after the investigation is completed.
What to do if you have an account in Bank of Baroda?
Even though the data leak has not been officially confirmed yet, some important steps can be taken immediately to protect yourself.
- Change Net Banking Password
If your password has not been changed for a long time, set a new and strong password immediately. Avoid reusing easy or old passwords.
- Do not share OTP and banking information with anyone
No bank asks for OTP, CVV, PIN or password over phone, message or email. If someone pretends to be a bank official and asks for such information, disconnect the call immediately.
- Keep an eye on your account regularly
Check your bank account and all debit or credit card transactions regularly. If you see any unknown transaction, inform the bank immediately.
- Keep two-factor authentication on
Always activate additional security features available in Mobile Banking and Internet Banking, such as two-factor authentication. This makes it difficult to login without your permission.
- If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately
If you suspect any fraudulent call, email, link or unauthorized transaction, contact the bank’s customer care without delay and lodge a complaint on the National Cyber Helpline 1930 or Cyber Crime Portal.

Cyber criminals often take advantage of such cases and target people through fake calls, messages and emails. Therefore, do not click on any suspicious link and keep your banking information completely confidential.
