Mohanlalganj. Thieves broke the shutter of a grocery shop located on Rae Bareli Road in Fattekheda Majra Kankaha and stole pan masala and around Rs 2 to 3 lakh kept in an earthen piggy bank. After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot, investigated and also watched the CCTV footage. The victim shopkeeper has filed a complaint at Mohanlalganj police station, accusing the Kankaha outpost police of being negligent in taking action despite giving information.
Ram Pratap, son of Ram Kishun, resident of Fattekheda, runs a grocery shop on Rae Bareli Road. According to him, he closed the shop at around 10:30 pm on Saturday night and went home. At around 3:36 pm, the people of the village called and informed that the shutter of the shop was open. When Ram Pratap immediately reached the shop, he found the shutter half open. He informed the police on 112. After some time, outpost police along with 112 police also reached the spot and inspected the shop and made a video.
According to Ram Pratap, a bag of pan masala was found missing from the shop. Apart from this, the thieves also broke the notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500 which were being kept in a big clay piggy bank for savings for about three years. The shopkeeper has claimed to have around two to three lakh rupees in his piggy bank.
Allegation of no action being taken even after watching CCTV footage
The victim alleges that he had informed the Kankaha outpost in-charge on Sunday morning about the incident and demanded action. The police also watched the CCTV footage of the suspects who stole from the shop, but despite this no effective action has been taken yet. Angered by this, the victim has filed a written complaint at Mohanlalganj police station and filed a case demanding action against the accused.
Questions are being raised on the working style of Kankaha outpost police due to the allegation of delay in taking action despite receiving information about the theft incident and CCTV footage being available. However, the amount of theft and the actual status of the accused involved in the incident will be clear only after police investigation.
Mohanlalganj Inspector Rambabu Singh said that the victim's complaint has been received. The matter will be investigated. Necessary legal action will be taken based on investigation of available evidence including CCTV footage.
