You wear a mask to avoid pollution while driving a two-wheeler or walking in the market of your city. As such, it may be somewhat effective for avoiding pollution in a limited amount of time while traveling certain distances. Similarly, if we cannot stop playing with nature, we can at least start reducing this playing for a limited period of time to keep it safe, because now the crisis has extended from the Himalayas to the Pole.
El Nino, which is going to turn into Super El Nino, will fuel the changing climate. Scientists are saying that if Super El Nino will affect the icy polar regions along with the sensitive Himalayas, it will add fuel to the fire of global warming. The air will become more toxic and the heat web will be responsible for fueling seasonal disasters like floods. The question is, when will we wake up? Actually, greenhouse gases are not being controlled in the country and the world. Developing countries are emitting these poisonous gases excessively, due to which a continuous increase in global temperature is being recorded, which has crossed 1.5 degrees Celsius, due to which cold climate countries like Europe have had to face the brunt of hot winds this year.
Due to the continuous melting of glaciers, a serious crisis is looming on the mountain ecosystem, while the rising sea level due to the melting of Arctic ice is indicating some other danger. Scientists believe that they have been warning about climate change for the last two and a half decades, but people and our policy makers are still far away from understanding its seriousness. However, there have been changes in recent weather patterns in rainfall. These days, monsoon rains are occurring, the direction of which seems to have changed, which has started raining more in dry areas and less rain in areas with more rainfall. This time a major change is being seen in the monsoon in the form of patchy rainfall. The big monsoon clouds have started shrinking, which are fragmenting and breaking into small pieces. This form of monsoon has been seen for the first time, the expectation that it will bring more changes in the future cannot be ruled out.
Most of the reports that have come so far from the World Meteorological Organization have been warning. However, due to increase in temperature, the oceans have started heating up, due to which even the lives of marine animals are in danger, while the increasing temperature will increase the migration of vegetation from the mountainous areas. The agricultural sector will be affected on a large scale and production will decrease. Along with this, health problems will increase. Many types of new diseases will arise. Scientists are very worried about this.
Scientists believe that nature is once again warning. El Nino, which is flourishing in the Pacific Ocean, is now going to take the form of Super El Nino and this time its effect will not be limited to just the weather. This will directly double the pace of climate change. This Super El Nino will most likely shake the Himalayas and icy polar regions. It will also add fuel to the fire of global warming.
Dr. Narendra Singh, senior environmental scientist of Nainital-based Aryabhatta Observational Science Research Institute (ARIES) also says that it would be a big mistake to take climate change lightly. For this, there is a strong need to make meaningful efforts to reduce green house gases. Policy makers will have to take concrete measures regarding climate. Scientific solutions will have to be found in the direction of development. Time is now very short and we have to cover a long distance of efforts in limited time. Strict and meaningful policies have to be implemented immediately to reduce greenhouse gases. Development does not just mean concrete, we have to adopt scientific and sustainable measures.
Climate change will no longer have to be made a government issue but a household issue, because a better and ideal society starts from the family itself. It is important to understand that Super El Nino is not a disaster. This is just a mirror. This shows how much we have tampered with nature. The lush green forests were converted into concrete forests by cutting trees. However, the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand can play a big role in dealing with this global crisis. Recently, the Uttarakhand government has taken some decisions which can prove beneficial in protecting nature.
We have to understand that the climate crisis can be solved by combining ecology and economy. There should be development and trees should also be saved. This is the model of real developed India. Super El Nino and changing monsoon are showing that the formula of first earning and then saving will no longer work. Now both will have to walk together. This coordination is also necessary because if we look only at ecology, then development will stop and if we look only at economy, then after 10 years there will be no habitable land left. That's why we need a green economy, in which for every 1 rupee of development, 1 tree is also associated.
It would be a big mistake to take climate change lightly. We do not have to choose development or environment, but choose environment with development. The formula is simple, so every project has to be asked how much GDP (gross domestic product) will increase and how much carbon dioxide (CO2) will decrease. If the answer to both is 'yes', then that is real development. Keep in mind that the Himalayas are crying, the poles are melting, the monsoon has gone astray. If we are not alert even now, the next news will not be of disaster but of destruction.
