Mahindra, like many brands, has also taken electric vehicles seriously. In the last couple of years, Mahindra has launched three new born-electric SUVs: the BE6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S. They are all doing well in terms of sales numbers too. A week ago, we came across a report that Mahindra was planning to update its BE6 electric SUV with more features and an updated cabin. Mahindra has now officially released a teaser video of the same, and the upcoming version will be called the BE6 Sporteq. The official launch of the BE6 Sporteq will take place on 15 August 2026.
The video has been shared by Mahindra Electric SUVs on its official social media page. In the video, we get a glimpse of the upcoming BE6 SUV. The SUV seen in the video looks like the regular BE6 that we currently have in the market. It appears to be finished in a matte grey or silver shade with a gloss-black roof.
As the name Sporteq suggests, we feel Mahindra is aiming for a tech-loaded version of the EV, which is already sporty to drive. Customers would be getting premium and tech-focused features without compromising on the sporty look and feel.
In the teaser video, we get a glimpse of the cabin of the upcoming BE6 Sporteq variant. The dashboard design has been revised and, as expected, it now comes with the triple-screen setup seen in Mahindra’s other BEVs. The SUV also gets a new theme for the cabin. It is finished in black and brown, which looks elegant and gives the cabin an upmarket feel. There is BE6 branding or stitching on the seats as usual, and Mahindra is also using soft-touch materials on the dashboard.
Mahindra has also revised the AC vents on the BE6, and it now comes with sleek horizontal vents that run across the width of the cabin and meet the door pads. The partition usually seen in the centre of the cabin is not present in this version.
As Mahindra is calling this the BE6 Sporteq edition, it is safe to assume that the existing twin-screen version will continue to be sold alongside this new variant. It will be sold alongside the BE6 Formula E, Batman, and regular BE6 variants.
The Sporteq variant of the BE6 will continue to offer the sleek C-shaped LED DRLs, all-LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, an integrated roof spoiler, and more. It remains to be seen whether Mahindra will make any changes to the alloy wheel design on this particular variant.
Coming to the features, the BE6 is expected to offer the same features as the current version. It will get an electric tailgate, keyless entry and go, electrically operated flush-fitting door handles, adaptive suspension, C-shaped LED DRLs, LED tail lamps with a centre-light animation, a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, dual wireless phone chargers, a 360-degree camera with live view and recording, AutoPark, video calling, leatherette upholstery, a Blind View Monitor, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, an augmented-reality head-up display (HUD), seven airbags, and Level 2 ADAS with five radars and one camera.
Other safety features include automatic lane change, lane centring, emergency steering assist, blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert, and more.
The BE6 is currently offered with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options. The larger 79 kWh battery is available on the top-end variant and produces 282 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque, with power sent exclusively to the rear wheels.
The smaller battery pack generates 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The 79 kWh battery offers a claimed driving range of 682 km, while the 59 kWh version delivers a claimed range of 656 km.
Mahindra had also promised a 70 kWh battery option for the BE6. This would allow the company to price the SUV more aggressively while giving customers greater flexibility in choosing between battery packs and trim levels. Whether Mahindra will launch the 70 kWh variant with the Sporteq is something we will have to wait and see.
