India became the first team in the world to participate in all 16 tournaments of the Hockey World Cup as they stepped out for their first match at the Wagner Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

However, India’s match was the first in the schedule, so the first achievement was recorded in the name of India in terms of playing the 16th World Cup.

In the first World Cup held in Barcelona in the year 1971, India won the bronze medal with a brilliant third position.
