Mathura/Vrindavan: On the occasion of Hariyali Teej, a different color of faith was seen in Vrindavan on Saturday. Adorable Thakur Shri Banke Bihariji Maharaj sat on the jewel studded gold-silver carousel for the special Jhula darshan held once a year. A large number of devotees from all over the country reached Vrindavan for darshan. There was a crowd of devotees in the temple and surrounding areas since morning. Along with the elders, there was special enthusiasm among the youth and Genji also for the darshan of Thakurji. On Hariyali Teej, Thakurji was dressed in a special green jeweled dress brought from Delhi. She was specially adorned with gold jewelery studded with gems. After Jhula Vihar, Sukhsej was also decorated for his rest.

Historic carousel decorated for the 80th time
This time Thakur Banke Bihariji sat on the historic gold-silver carousel for the 80th time. This 79 year old carousel was built by the artisans of Banaras in about five years between 1942 and 1947. For the first time in the year 1947, on Hariyali Teej, Thakurji had taken a swing on this carousel. The carousel weighing about five tonnes has been made in about 180 parts. It has dancing peacocks, winding stairs, attractive pillars and life-size figures of Lalita, Vishakha, Chitralekha and Rangdevi Sakhis. The fine carving of bell-boots further enhances its beauty. About 10 thousand tolas of gold and one lakh tolas of silver have been used in the carousel.
Carousel renovated after 25 years
The historic carousel was renovated after about 25 years. 28 artisans from Jaipur worked for 22 days under special security to clean, repair, inlay and polish it. About one kilogram of gold was used in the renovation and about Rs 1.5 crore was spent on the entire work.

Temple doors open 14 hours
In view of the huge crowd, the darshan time on Hariyali Teej was also extended. The doors of the temple will be visible from 7 am to 2 pm and from 4:15 pm to 11 pm. In this way devotees will get the opportunity to have darshan of Thakurji for about 14 hours. Last year, about six lakh devotees had reached Vrindavan on Hariyali Teej. This time, due to Independence Day and Saturday being a holiday, more than 10 lakh devotees were estimated to arrive. To control the crowd, Vrindavan was divided into four super zones and 18 sectors. Barriers were installed at about 70 places, while 14 holding areas were made on the temple road.
Entry closed for outside vehicles
As per traffic arrangements, entry of outside vehicles into Vrindavan is being banned from the night of 14th August to 15th August. Permanent and temporary parking was made for the vehicles of devotees. E-rickshaw and golf cart facilities were provided to reach the temple from the parking lot. Shri Banke Bihari Mandir Marg was kept as no vehicle zone. One-way system for entry and exit from the temple remained in force. Arrangements were made for the devotees coming from Jugalghat to enter from gate number two and exit from gate number one. Whereas for the devotees coming from Vidyapeeth intersection, entry was decided from gate number three and exit from gate number four.
Thousands of soldiers deployed for security

In view of the crowd and security, a large number of police forces were deployed. Four ASPs, 12 COs, 70 inspectors, 260 sub inspectors, 90 women sub inspectors, 1400 constables and head constables and 150 women constables were appointed in the system. Apart from this, traffic police, 400 home guards, two company PACs, two platoons flood PAC and one team each of NDRF and SDRF have also been deployed.
