Ranchi. The students' agitation over alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) entered the 23rd day on Sunday. The protesting student leaders have now announced to further intensify the movement. The students have announced to siege the residence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren on August 20.
Student leader Prem Nayak, who was on hunger strike during the ongoing protest at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, said that today is the 23rd day of the movement and it is the 13th day of his hunger strike. He alleged that the government is not serious about the demands of the students. Prem Nayak said that his health is deteriorating and he does not think that he will be able to survive much longer.
Prem Nayak told that an attempt was made to take him for treatment, but he refused. He alleged that student leader Devendra Nath Mahato has also been taken for treatment and is not being allowed to return. He said that efforts are being made to break the movement.
Student leaders have talked about preparing a strategy for gheraoing the Chief Minister's residence. Student leader Ravindra Paswan said that the government should pay attention to the demands of the students. He appealed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren to understand the problems of the students and take decisions in their interest.
Student leaders have demanded cancellation of JSSC CGL and JPSC 11th to 13th examinations, CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities and resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren if their demands are not met. Student leaders said that now the movement will not proceed in a Gandhian way and if necessary, violent agitation will be carried out.
Student leader Piyush Kumar said that the assembly gherao on August 10 was just a trailer, the real movement would take place on August 20. He said that if their demands are not met then all the students and youth of Jharkhand will surround the Chief Minister's residence and will remain there till their demands are met.
