Desk: If any upcoming Indian film is being discussed the most for a long time, it is 'Ramayana'. This film is making headlines mostly because of its huge budget. 'Ramayana' is a two-part picture, whose total budget is Rs 4000 crore. This is the most expensive film of Indian cinema so far. Now South superstar and co-producer of 'Ramayana' Yash has explained the mathematics behind this budget.
In fact, when producer Namit Malhotra had told that Rs 4000 crores were being spent on the two-part film, a discussion had started as to how the makers would recover this budget. Now Yash has talked about the budget of 'Ramayana' while connecting it with Hollywood and said that the amount of money spent in making a picture in Hollywood is almost the same as the budget for global promotion. However, earning is also done at the global level only.
From Yash's words, it seems that the makers are not at all worried about this huge budget. He is confident that the film will earn money easily. Yash said on the budget of 'Ramayana', “The budget of Rs 4000 crore is for a two-part film, which also includes the expenses of release and promotion. Same thing happens in Hollywood. Our partner (Namit) said this only after including all this. The calculations there (Hollywood) are like this. They spend equal to the budget of the film or sometimes even more money on promotion, because the promotion is done at the global level. But the earnings are also global. It just happens.”
Yash has made it clear that the promotion part is also included in the budget of Rs 4000 crore. That means, one part is being spent on the making of the two-part film and the other part is kept for the promotion of both the parts.
Referring to taking Indian cinema to the global level, Yash said, “Cinema is a soft power. We all have to work very hard for it. Whatever happens, we will work hard and do our work properly. If not today, tomorrow we will do it. If we don't do it, someone else will do it. But it should happen. Both 'Ramayana' and 'Toxic' are attempts to establish Indian cinema as global films.”
Yash is not only the co-producer of 'Ramayana', but he is also playing the role of Ravana in it. Ranbir Kapoor is going to be seen in the role of Lord Ram. Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Ravi Dubey are also in important roles. The first part of 'Ramayana' will be released in India on November 8 on the occasion of Diwali. There are preparations for release in foreign countries two days earlier on 6th November. The second part will be released on Diwali in the year 2027.
