PM Calls Bangladeshi Players: Bangladesh cricket team has created history by winning the test match for the first time on Australian soil. Bangladesh defeated Australia by 9 wickets in the first test played in Darwin. With this victory, the team has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Australia had scored 284 runs in the second innings, leaving Bangladesh with a target of only 57 runs to win. The team easily achieved the target by losing one wicket and celebrated wildly on the field. PM also spoke to the players on call.
Bowler Hasan Mahmood’s performance was most special in this spectacular victory of Bangladesh. He troubled the Australian batsmen by taking a total of 9 wickets in both the innings of the match. Whereas Mehdi Hasan Miraj made important contributions to the team with both bat and ball. Bangladesh bowlers maintained pressure on Australia throughout the match. The team’s batting also took advantage of the opportunity and did not give much chance to the host team to make a comeback.
Prime Minister made video call with players
After the historic victory, Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman spoke to the team players on video call. He congratulated captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto and the entire team for the victory. Praising the hard work and excellent performance of the players, the Prime Minister described this victory as a proud moment for the country. Defeating a strong team like Australia on its own soil is considered a big achievement for Bangladesh cricket.
From defeat in practice match to historic victory
This victory is also special for Bangladesh because the conditions were not good for the team before the Australia tour. In the practice match, the entire Bangladesh team was reduced to just 54 runs. Despite this, the players made a tremendous comeback in the test match. The batsmen showed responsibility and the bowlers kept constant pressure on Australia. Now Bangladesh’s eyes are on the second test. If the team also wins the next match, then it will make history bigger by winning the Test series in Australia for the first time.
