Ingredients for making Moong Halwa

  • Yellow Moong Dal – 1 cup
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Saffron – 1 pinch
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Almond slivers – 2 tbsp
  • Desi Ghee – 1/2 cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup

Method of making Moong Halwa

step 1- To make delicious moong dal halwa at home, first clean the dal, wash it thoroughly and soak it in water for 3 hours. After the stipulated time, put the pulses in a sieve and remove all the water. Now grind the dal coarsely with the help of a mixer jar and keep it aside in a vessel. After this, take some lukewarm milk in a bowl and add saffron to it, mix it well with a spoon and keep it aside.

Step 2- Now take a deep bottomed pan, add ghee in it and heat it on medium flame. When the ghee melts, add coarsely ground moong dal paste into it and fry. Roast the dal until its color becomes golden brown. It may take 25-30 minutes for the dal to cook properly. During this time, roast the dal while stirring continuously.

Step 3- When the lentils are cooked well, add one cup milk and one cup lukewarm water and mix well. After this, once again cook the dal on medium flame while stirring for 7-8 minutes. After this, add a cup of sugar (as per taste) to the dal and add saffron milk and cardamom powder on top and mix well.

Step 4- Mix all the ingredients well with the help of a ladle. After this, let the moong dal halwa cook for 4-5 more minutes. After this turn off the gas. Delicious Moong Halwa is ready. Garnish it with slivered almonds. Even after putting it in the serving bowl, the halwa can be decorated with slivered almonds.
