Beetroot Upma Recipe
First step- To make upma, you have to take plain buttermilk. Put the buttermilk in the mixer jar and add some salt and chopped beetroot pieces to it. Blend them well in a mixer and grind them. Take it out in a bowl and add finely chopped coriander and green chillies.
Second step- Now put semolina in a pan and fry it lightly. Take out the semolina after frying. Add 1 tablespoon desi ghee in the pan. Now add mustard seeds, asafoetida, gram dal, cashew nuts, dry red chilli, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped onion and curry leaves. Fry everything lightly and then reduce the gas flame to very low.
Third step- Add prepared beetroot buttermilk in the pan. Mix it and now slowly add roasted semolina to it. Cook it well on medium low flame. Add 1 teaspoon more desi ghee and cook until it becomes as thick as upma.
Fourth step- Delicious semolina upma is ready which becomes pink in color and not white. Its taste increases manifold with the addition of buttermilk.
