New Delhi: A message from an unknown number appears on your husband's phone and immediately a question arises in your mind as to whose message it is. This happens in many relationships. Many times I feel like picking up the phone and taking a look. But this small curiosity can gradually turn into suspicion and create tension in the relationship. Today, mobile is no longer just a means of communication, it contains information related to work, family, friends and many personal things. In such a situation, it is important to understand whether looking at your partner's phone is a sign of trust or an interference in his personal boundaries.
A sudden change in the partner's behavior can often increase anxiety. If earlier someone used to leave the phone anywhere and now keeps it with him always, hides the screen as soon as a message comes or goes to a different place for a call, then it is natural for questions to arise in the mind. However, every change does not mean infidelity or anything wrong. The reason could also be work pressure, personal problems or a problem of someone close to him which he does not want to share at the moment.
It is better to talk openly than checking the phone
If you are feeling uncomfortable with your partner's behavior, then it is better to express your problem directly instead of secretly looking at his phone. Talk about your feelings instead of blaming. For example, instead of saying 'You are hiding something from me', you could say 'I am feeling a little uncomfortable with your change in behavior regarding the phone.' This type of conversation gives the other person a chance to clarify and explain his position. Many times that trust comes back through conversation, due to which people start checking the phone.
Knowing the password is not allowed
Many couples know the password of each other's phone and there is no problem in it, if both have shared this information willingly. But knowing the password does not allow the partner to open the phone whenever he wants and read every chat. In a trusting relationship, consent and respect for boundaries are equally important. One's personal things should be accessible only when the other person is comfortable with it.
Privacy does not mean hiding secrets
Even after marriage, every person may have some personal things and personal space. It is possible that a friend may have shared his problem or a family member may have shared something sensitive. It is not necessary to share every such conversation with your partner. Privacy does not mean that the person is doing anything wrong. This means that even while being in a relationship, both of them should maintain their boundaries and personal space. A strong relationship is not built on keeping an eye on everything, but on trust and clear communication.
