Royal Enfield is preparing to launch a new 'Gorkha Edition' of its famous Classic 350. The company is going to launch this bike in the Indian market on August 18. Units of the bike have started arriving at dealerships, so deliveries are expected to start soon after the launch. There are no major mechanical changes in the new Gorkha Edition; The base design, body panels, suspension and most other parts of the bike will remain the same as the existing Classic 350. This special edition will mainly stand out due to its new color and special Gorkha Edition graphics.
The most striking change in the Classic 350 Gorkha Edition is its light military green or olive green color. Royal Enfield has not yet officially revealed the name of this special shade, but this color resembles the vehicles of the Indian Army. Along with this color, special Gorkha Edition graphics have been given on the fuel tank and side panels. There is also a 'Crossed Khukri' mark on the side panel, which is the traditional insignia of Gorkha soldiers.
Dedicated to Gorkha Regiment
This special edition has been made to honor the Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army. Gorkha soldiers are famous for their bravery, discipline and fighting skills. The crossed Khukri design on the bike shows this identity. The famous war cry of the Gorkha soldiers is “Ayo Gorkhali!” (The Gurkhas have arrived).
Very little change in features
The spy shots reveal that the bike will have a semi-digital instrument cluster with an LCD screen along with an analog speedometer. It will also have wire-spoke wheels, round mirrors, chrome exhaust and chrome headlamp bezels. However, it does not include the tripper navigation pod. The dual-channel ABS variant of the current Classic 350 is expected to come with features like assist and slipper clutch and USB Type-C fast charging; Gorkha Edition is also expected to have these features.
same powerful engine
The bike will have a 349cc single-cylinder J-series engine, which will produce 20.2 bhp power and 27 Nm torque, and will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension work will be handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It will have disc brakes on both wheels and dual-channel ABS. Its price will be announced at the time of launch on August 18. If the company keeps its price around the current model, then it can prove to be an attractive special edition for Classic 350 fans.
