Yogi government has taken another big step towards connecting secondary education in Uttar Pradesh with modern and digital technology. Now preparations are being made to make difficult subjects very simple and interesting for the students of class 9 to 12 through videos, 3D animation, reels and other digital mediums.
For this specific purpose, a high level workshop on educational video production was organized at the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET), Uttar Pradesh. 18 lecturers and assistant teachers from various secondary schools of Lucknow division participated in this workshop. Here, emphasis was laid on preparing such teaching material by combining the subject expertise of teachers with digital technology, so that students do not face any problem in understanding even the most complex concepts.
Difficult studies will become easier with video and animation
The main objective of this workshop was to convey difficult subjects to students through visual and digital mediums rather than limiting them to thick books and the traditional blackboard teaching method. In the workshop, there was a detailed discussion on presenting the topics in small and easily understandable parts through videos, reels, animation and bullet points.
The biggest benefit from this digital initiative will be that students will get the opportunity to view the course material repeatedly and understand it easily as per their pace, convenience and time.
Special focus on students from 9th to 12th
This entire initiative of digital content creation is being prepared mainly keeping in mind the students of classes 9 to 12. In many subjects of these classes, the theory and technical parts prove to be quite challenging and difficult for the students. In such a situation, efforts are being made to make studies more interesting and effective through visual material.
Digital content will be created from physics to mathematics
During the workshop, the possibilities of creating digital content for subjects considered difficult like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Economics and Mathematics were discussed.
The participating teachers were explained how to prepare the script of the video as per the nature of the subject and the mental level of the students. Also, special emphasis was given on explaining complex concepts through daily life examples, graphics and animation.
This initiative will move forward from the experiences of the Covid period
In this workshop, experiences of educational videos prepared by the Department of Basic and Secondary Education during the COVID-19 pandemic were also shared. The experience gained in delivering course material to students through digital mediums during those difficult times will now be used to create more systematic and high quality digital content.
Along with this, the possibilities of conveying any difficult concept to the students in the most effective manner in the shortest time through videos and short format content (like reels) were also discussed.
Technical information on video production given to teachers
In the workshop, SCERT spokesperson Kamal Kishore shared important guidelines related to the design and production of educational videos. During this, the teachers present were introduced to the intricacies of correct selection of content, presentation and the entire technical process of video production.
Teachers were also given guidance that while creating digital content, it is very important to keep in mind the class level of the students, their learning ability and needs and the complexity of the subject.
Emphasis on the wonderful confluence of teachers and technology
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Mukesh Chandra, Director, SIET. On this special occasion, Additional Director (Vocational Education) Surendra Tiwari and SIET Administrative Officer Ajit Kumar Singh and many other senior officials were present.
The aim of this unique initiative of digital education is not at all to reduce the role of teachers, but to combine their subject expertise with modern technology. Through high quality video content, teachers will be able to explain difficult topics to their students in different and easy ways.
Big preparations to strengthen digital education
At the end of the program, SIET Director Dr. Mukesh Chandra shared the detailed further action plan with the participating teachers. It is believed that after the subject-wise digital material is completely ready, additional and better learning resources will be available to the students of secondary classes.
This initiative of Yogi government is being considered as a revolutionary step towards taking forward digital education, teacher training and technology-based teaching together. Its ultimate goal is to make the learning experience of students more simple, entertaining and effective by increasing the use of modern technology in secondary education of UP.
