Yogi government gave a gift, great news to 1.18 crore students

Lucknow. Yogi government has taken a big initiative for the children studying in government schools of Uttar Pradesh. Parents of about 1.18 crore students from classes 1 to 8 are being given financial assistance to buy uniforms, shoes-socks, sweaters, school bags and stationery.

Money directly into account through DBT

The government is sending this amount directly to the bank accounts of the parents through DBT. This has reduced the role of middlemen in the purchasing process and made the entire system more transparent than before. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the first phase of this scheme from Varanasi on July 8, 2026. In the first phase, assistance was sent to the parents of about 1.10 crore students. After this, 7.83 lakh more children have been given this benefit in the second phase.

Children will get essential items as soon as school opens

The government's emphasis is on ensuring that children have the necessary materials for studies at the beginning of the new academic session. Fulfilling needs like uniform, bags and stationery can increase children's self-confidence and also increase their enthusiasm for coming to school.

No child's education should be affected

According to Minister of State for Basic Education Sandeep Singh, the government's aim is to ensure that financial difficulties do not become a hindrance to any child's education. The process is also being monitored at the departmental level to provide assistance to the eligible students. This initiative is expected to provide financial relief to the families of lakhs of children studying in government schools at the beginning of the academic session.
