Tehran. Iran’s Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Reza Talai-Nik has claimed that the country’s defense production capacity remains strong. The production of weapons and military equipment has doubled in the last one year.
Brigadier General Reza Talai-Nik, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, said that strengthening the country’s power is necessary to counter foreign powers that want to weaken Iran’s independence, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
In an interview late Friday, Brigadier General Reza Talai-Nik, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, said Iran’s defense industry has become an important cornerstone of national security and military preparedness, according to IRNA. He said that the rapid production of indigenously made arms and ammunition and the ability to quickly replenish them when needed is one of the biggest strengths of this industry.
He said that Iran’s defense production capacity has been working continuously along with the use of weapons and military equipment in the field, so that supplies can be quickly restored if needed.
According to IRNA, Talai-Nik said that production of defense weapons and equipment doubled over the past year, despite attacks on limited parts of Iran’s defense industry during the 12-day war.
He explained that the ability to maintain a steady supply of weapons and military equipment was an important reason for Iran’s strength during the war. According to him, this capability has been strengthened through collaboration between the armed forces, the Defense Ministry, knowledge-based companies, private sector firms and scientific and research institutions. According to IRNA, the spokesperson said that during the conflict there was a more than threefold increase in the production of some strategic defense products and essential war materials.
He said that before the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iran’s defense industry was producing only 31 basic products, whereas today the country is producing more than a thousand advanced defense systems, weapons and ammunition. He claimed that the production cost of some Iranian defense systems is up to 20 times lower than similar foreign products.
The spokesperson further said that during the recent conflict, the military budget of the US, Israel and their allies was more than 100 times that of Iran. Despite this, Iran was successful in facing this conflict. He attributed this to the country’s domestic production capacity and national determination.
