As part of the campaign being run by Superintendent of Police Sonbhadra Abhishek Verma for the safety of children, quick recovery of missing/kidnapped children and quick and sensitive action in incidents related to children, under the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police, City Anil Kumar and under the close supervision of Area Officer Obra Prabhat Rai, under the leadership of Inspector-in-charge Obra Sadanand Rai, Police Station Obra has achieved significant success.
On 21.08.2026, plaintiff Hariprasad s/o Buddhu, resident of Jhariya Nala, Obra, police station Obra, district Sonbhadra informed that his 13 year old son had left home at around 17:00 pm on 21.08.2026 to buy vegetables from the market, but did not return home. Despite extensive search and contact with relatives, no trace of the child could be found.
On the basis of the complaint received, a case was registered at Obra police station under IPC No. 180/2026 Section 137 (2) BNS.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police station Obra immediately formed a police team and started the search for the child. The police team analyzed the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding areas and collected important clues through surveillance. The search for the child was also done with the help of local people and public cooperation.
Based on the tireless efforts of the police team and the important clues received, the kidnapped child was recovered safely within just 03 hours on 21.08.2026 at around 20:00. The recovered child was handed over safely to his family. When the child was found safe, the immediate action and promptness of the Obra police station was appreciated by the family members.
The police team that made the recovery included Inspector Sadanand Rai, Police Station Obra, Inspector Amit Kumar Singh, Inspector Jaishankar Singh, Inspector Santosh Patel, Inspector Praveen Kumar Rai, Inspector Rahul Shriwas.
Appeal of Sonbhadra Police – Sonbhadra Police appeals to the general public to immediately inform the police if any child is missing or if they have information about any suspicious activity. Public cooperation is very important in the safety of children and their safe recovery.
