A case of assault with policemen has come to light in Bhalswa Dairy area of Delhi. It is alleged that some people, angry over the seizure of the vehicle, surrounded the policemen on duty and started beating them. The attackers allegedly poured chilli powder in the eyes of the soldiers and also used sticks and bricks and stones.
This incident is from Outer North district. According to the information, the police had seized a motorcycle for not having the necessary documents. After the bike was confiscated, some people became angry and started arguing with the policemen. Within no time the dispute escalated so much that the accused attacked the policemen.
A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which some people are seen assaulting policemen. In the video, the attackers are seen attacking the soldiers with sticks. According to the police, chilli powder was also used during the attack, which caused trouble to the policemen.
As soon as information about the matter was received, the police started action. A 17-year-old teenager has been arrested from the scene. At the same time, search is on for other people involved in the incident. The police is trying to identify the accused on the basis of video footage and other available information.
This attack on policemen while on duty has increased the concern regarding law and order in the area. Police say that no person can be allowed to take law into his own hands. Action will also be taken against the absconding accused in the case. At present the police is investigating the entire incident and all aspects related to the attack are being investigated.
Delhi Police issued statement
A statement issued by Delhi Police said, 'On August 22, at around 3 pm, the beat staff of Bhalswa Dairy Police Station, Head Constable Dinesh and Head Constable Rajesh, were patrolling in Janta Vihar, Mukundpur area. During checking, they found a motorcycle without valid documents and as per procedure, it was brought to the police station for deposit under Section 66 of the DP Act.'
'At around 3:30 pm, when the personnel returned on patrol, a group of people, including the motorcycle owner and his family members, confronted them and questioned the police action.'
'The group turned violent, threw chilli powder in the eyes of the policemen and attacked them with bricks and sticks. Head constable Tinu, who came to help, was also attacked. All three policemen were injured, including head constable Dinesh who suffered head injuries. He was provided medical aid and is stable.
1 attacker arrested, 1 absconding
One of the attackers, 17-year-old JCL, was captured on the spot, while the others fled. A case has been registered at Police Station Bhalswa Dairy. The main absconding accused Sunil alias Pankaj is a scoundrel of the area and has five criminal records, including two cases under the NDPS Act and other heinous crimes.
