Singer Shaan big revelation amid talk of Arijit Singh retirement: I was also about to leave playback singing

Recently, famous singer Arijit Singh’s announcement of retirement from playback singing had shocked the entire Bollywood and his millions of fans. Meanwhile, another veteran singer of the Indian music world, Shaan, has revealed during an interview that he was also thinking of saying goodbye to playback singing at one stage of his career.

Singer Shaan’s big revelation amid talk of Arijit Singh’s retirement: ‘I was also about to leave playback singing’

Why did the thought of retirement come at the age of 33-34?

Recalling his early career, Shaan said that he had sung songs of almost every genre at a very young age. Despite success in the film industry and receiving many big awards, he was not having time for himself.

Shaan said, “At the age of 33-34, I had sung all types of songs and had also received two-three big awards. But at that time it seemed as if I was not getting time for any other work. Just one work after another was being done. Even after reaching the top, Arijit Singh was doing very selective work.”

Sonu Nigam and KK had advised to maintain standards

Referring to the conversations he had with his fellow singers and friends, Shaan said that he was working non-stop. He used to leave home in the morning and record for all kinds of projects.

“I used to leave the house in the morning and return home singing songs from all types of ABC films. My friends KK and Sonu Nigam had also explained to me that maintain standards, do not sing for everyone. However, I used to say that if someone calls me with love then how can I refuse anyone.”

‘The Almighty himself has reduced the work’

Smiling at the constant recording and busy schedule, Shaan said that things changed on their own later. He shared that there came a time when after returning home in the evening, he could not even remember what and which songs he had sung throughout the day.

Shaan said laughingly, “Maybe that message also reached the higher up. He said that there is no need to leave you, we will do it ourselves. After that the work became less.”

Impact on fans and music industry

This statement of Shaan has made it clear that the pressure of working continuously for a long time in the music industry and the challenge of balancing personal life has been in front of artists of every era. After Arijit Singh’s recent decision, Shaan’s experience has once again reignited the debate on how important work-life balance and selective work strategy is for singers in Bollywood.
