England vs Pakistan 2nd Test: Brydon Carse Dropped Amid ECB Investigation, Sonny Baker Added to Updated Squad

Brydon Carse has been left out of England’s squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan as an investigation into an off-field incident continues. The 31-year-old fast bowler is under scrutiny after an incident outside a nightclub in Derby on Saturday night.

Footage showing Carse in police handcuffs outside the venue quickly circulated online, prompting the ECB to step in. The Cricket Regulator is now examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, with Carse’s omission coming as the investigation remains ongoing.

Brydon Carse has been ruled out of England’s squad for the second Test against Pakistan as the ECB investigates an incident at a nightclub in Derby. Carse was initially included in the 16-man squad but has now been replaced by pacer Sonny Baker, who could make his second Test appearance after debuting against New Zealand in June.

The ECB has not disclosed further details of the incident, though footage showed Carse being escorted away by police outside a Derby nightclub on Saturday night. The Cricket Regulator is handling the investigation, with the ECB confirming: “Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained.” Earlier this summer, Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were also left out while an investigation into a separate nightclub incident was underway.

Carse had been released from England duty to play for Durham after missing selection for the first Test and was celebrating his side’s County Championship win over Derbyshire when the incident occurred. England, who won the series opener at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs, will face Pakistan at Lord’s with a chance to seal the series and improve their World Test Championship position.
