New Delhi: Talks are going on between India and China regarding the border dispute. Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing on Tuesday. Let us tell you that there have been discussions between the two on maintaining peace and stability on the border as well as ways to improve the relations between the two countries.
Doval is on a two-day visit to China to attend the 25th meeting of the Special Representative Mechanism on the India-China border issue. In 2020, there was a lot of tension in the relations between India and China after the military standoff in eastern Ladakh. In such a situation, this meeting is considered important amidst efforts to gradually normalize relations between the two countries.
What issues were discussed with Han Zheng?
According to the Indian Embassy, Doval met Han Zheng before the meeting of special representatives. During this, there was discussion on maintaining peace in the border areas and avoiding tense situations. Along with this, ways to increase cooperation between the two countries on economic, political and international forums were also discussed.

After this, Doval is going to participate in special representative level talks with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The special representative arrangement for talks on the India-China border dispute was started in 2003. At present Doval is the special representative of this mechanism from India and Wang Yi from China.
Relations deteriorated after Galwan clash
After the clash in Galwan Valley in 2020, tension in relations between India and China had increased considerably. There was military deployment in eastern Ladakh for a long time. After this, both the countries tried to improve the situation through several rounds of talks at military and diplomatic level. However, differences still remain regarding the border dispute and Arunachal Pradesh.
Discussion of Xi Jinping coming to India
Doval’s visit to China is taking place at a time when there is an eye on the possibility of Chinese President Xi Jinping attending the BRICS conference to be held in Delhi in September. If he comes to India, he may also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. China’s Foreign Ministry has said that apart from the border dispute, regional and international issues will also be discussed in the talks between Doval and Wang Yi.
