Sri Lanka all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga has been ruled out of the Women's T20 Asia Cup after suffering a right knee injury, meaning she will have to wait for her T20 International debut. Left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage has been called up as her replacement.
Vihanga picked up the injury during a practice match and did not travel with the Sri Lankan squad to the UAE. Meepage, who made her T20I debut in December 2025, has represented Sri Lanka 14 times across formats. She has claimed six wickets in nine T20I innings in the T20I format, averaging 38.33 with an economy rate of 7.66.

The rest of Sri Lanka's side remains the same, with captain Chamari Athapaththu leading the defending champions and Harshitha Samarawickrama as her vice-captain. Kaushini Nuthyangana is the only other wicketkeeper in the 15-member squad.

The Women's T20 Asia Cup will begin on 28 August with a Group A clash between Hong Kong and Thailand. One of the marquee matches of the tournament, India vs Pakistan, is scheduled to take place on 5 September in Group A.
Group A consists of India, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Thailand, while defending champions Sri Lanka have been placed in Group B with Bangladesh, Indonesia and hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Sri Lanka's opening match in Group B will be against UAE on 29 August, while India will begin their campaign on 30 August against Thailand. The tournament's most successful team, India, will also play their first match in Group A on 30 August against Thailand.
