This letter is said to be issued on the letterhead of United Liberation Council (ULC). The letter claims to have recorded the names and addresses of some Kashmiri Pandits along with vehicle numbers and phone numbers. In this, people have been warned of dire consequences. After the letter came to light, All PM Package Employees Forum Kashmir has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir demanding to increase the security of PM Package employees.
Employees said- will not be afraid now
Surendra Kaul, a Kashmiri Pandit employee posted in Srinagar, said that this time he will neither be afraid nor will he leave Kashmir. He said that Kashmir is his birthplace. It is reported that a similar threatening letter had also appeared in the first week of August.
In the new viral letter, it has been claimed that personal information of Kashmiri Pandit employees has been made public. Kashmiri Pandit social activist Rakesh Handu said that such threatening letters are being continuously issued on social media.
Questions were also raised on the claims of the government
Rakesh Handu has raised questions on the security arrangements of the administration. He said that after August 5, 2019, the government has been talking about change and peace in the valley. But according to him the ground situation appears different from these claims.
He claimed that 52 minorities have been killed since 2019. This also includes the attack on tourists in Baisaran. He said that the emergence of threatening letters raises serious concerns regarding security arrangements.
People from the majority community also became targets
Rakesh Handu said that only the minority community has not been affected by terrorism. According to him, many local citizens and policemen from the majority community have also become victims of terrorist violence. He questioned that if the situation in Kashmir has become completely normal, then why threatening letters revealing the identity of minorities are appearing again and again. He has demanded strict action against the culprits.
Terrorist organizations troubled by investigation of old cases
According to Kashmir affairs expert Amit Kaul, there has been an increase in uneasiness among terrorist organizations after the investigation into old cases related to Kashmiri Pandits has intensified. Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency i.e. SIA is investigating the cases of Wandhama massacre and murder of Kashmiri Pandit leader Tika Lal Taplu. Apart from this, it has also been said that the investigation in the cases related to Sarla Bhat and Sarbananda Kaul will be expedited.
Many old murder cases under investigation
According to experts, SIA has also intensified the investigation into the murder of Justice Neelkanth Ganju. Meanwhile, it is being claimed that there is increasing acceptance in Kashmir regarding the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homes. According to Amit Kaul, many Kashmiri Muslims are also coming forward in this direction. He believes that terrorist organizations are trying to create an atmosphere of fear by threatening Kashmiri Pandits.
Demand to increase security
According to security agencies, United Liberation Council is said to have links with Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to agencies, this organization is continuously issuing threats to target Kashmiri Pandits.
The alleged use of personal information in the threatening letter has raised concerns among employees and their families. The organization of PM Package employees has demanded from the Chief Secretary to strengthen the security arrangements. Now the challenge before the administration is to ensure the safety of the people concerned by investigating the reality of the threat.
