New Delhi: The severe and devastating flood that hit Nepal on Wednesday has caused massive devastation in many parts of the country. Flood water suddenly spread in the villages and areas situated on the banks of Bhote Koshi river near the Tibet border, causing huge loss of life and property. Rasuwa district and its surrounding areas have been most affected. This disaster has caused serious damage to houses, roads, bridges, hydropower plants and other important infrastructure. Many villages have been completely destroyed.
95 deaths, 500 missing, weather became villain in rescue
According to the official figures received so far, the death toll has increased to 95. Hundreds of people are still reported missing. Due to bad weather and complete breakdown of communication system in the affected areas, rescue and relief operations are facing a lot of problems.
Nepalese authorities are continuing efforts to reach the affected areas and rescue stranded people. On the other hand, the magnitude of this devastation is clearly visible from satellite images.
Satellite revealed – map changed on 23rd August vs 26th August
Satellite images taken by Planet Labs compare the situation before and after flash floods in several areas of Nepal. These pictures show the situation before the flood on 23 August 2026 and after the disaster on 26 August 2026.
In satellite images, the valleys near Mankamana village can be seen before and after the flood. The swelling of the river, the sinking of villages and the widespread changes in the surrounding areas are clearly visible from these photographs.
Similarly, in another satellite image, Kharga Bhanjyang village is shown before the flood on 23 August and after the flood on 26 August. The floods not only affected the populated areas but also completely changed the surrounding natural landscape. Where earlier there were lush green fields, now only debris and mud are visible.
384 tourists missing, 133 Indians also, NDRF alert in Bihar-UP
According to Nepal Tourism Board NTB, a total of 384 tourists are missing after this flood in Rasuwa district. These include 291 foreigners and 93 Nepali citizens. Overall, at least 500 people are missing, including at least 133 Indian citizens.
Meanwhile, NDRF teams are on alert in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in view of the possibility of flood wave moving forward through the Gandak river. According to CWC, the water level of Trishuli river in Furke Khola, 160 KM from the Indian border, has suddenly increased which may be related to GLOF. PM Modi has talked to Nepal’s PM Balendra Shah and assured all possible help.
