New Delhi: Northern Range Tim of Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a young couple while exposing the alleged espionage network linked to Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI.
Special Cell DCP Nara Chaitanya said that the team took this action under the leadership of Inspector Anuj Nautiyal and Inspector Chandan Kumar under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh. Both the accused were in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives through social media since the year 2024 and were working for them. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Sahil (25) and his wife Sameera (21).
The game started from social media
Investigation revealed that Sahil had come in contact with a Pakistani agent through Instagram in the year 2024. Her friend Sameera was also in this contact, after which both of them started working for Pakistani intelligence operatives. Police allege that they were lured for financial gain.
8 SIM cards…Pakistan via Dubai'
According to the police, Sahil and Sameera sent 8 Indian SIM cards to Pakistan in the years 2024 and 2025, which were sent via Dubai. In return, both were allegedly given Rs 30,000. By activating WhatsApp accounts from Pakistan on these SIM cards, an attempt was made to enter Indian WhatsApp groups and gather information.
Cantonment recce task
During interrogation, the police came to know that Sahil was assigned the task of recruiting people for recce of cantonment areas in different parts of India and gathering information related to those army personnel whose court martial related cases are pending in the tribunal.
Mobile phone revealed the secret
Special Cell has recovered two mobile phones from the possession of both of them. During forensic investigation, the police claimed to have found alleged objectionable conversations and WhatsApp chats with Pakistani handlers. Police are now investigating the entire network, the role of Pakistani handlers and possible other associates.
